What the Teachers Say

'Thank you for running Tae Kwon Do in Year 3 for this half term. The children have thoroughly enjoyed the lessons and from start to finish have all been able to access the activities set while at the same time being challenged.
As well as learning skills in Tae Kwon Do, the children have learnt about respect, focus, modesty and having a good attitude, which we have also been able to discuss in class time and which the children really respond to.
Those children who already had some experience in Tae Kwon Do were celebrated but also challenged and those who were slightly nervous about learning a martial art for the first time are now enthusiasts!'

"Due to the popularity of the sessions we are now delighted to be organising an after-school club for next year so that other pupils can benefit from these excellent sessions. Thank you! "

When asked about the lessons they have had, some of the children said:

“I really enjoyed the circle game where we had to hold our arms out and focus. It was hard but it made me realise how strong I can be.”

“The lessons were really good fun”

“I loved it when we had to break boards with our feet! I was scared because I never thought I could do that but I did in the end. It was amazing!”

“Breaking boards really helped me to aim and be accurate.”

“I felt special when I was made an ambassador for the lesson and got to wear the black belt. It made me feel honoured and I really did my best.”

“Tae Kwon Do was very energetic and sometimes hard but I always felt very calm at the end. I would like to do it again.”

Katie Joyce - Christchurch School (Shooters Hill)

"Just to let you know how much the children are enjoying their Taekwondo. They all love it and look forward to it each week, they have acquired new skills and an increased level of self discipline. You have made it a fun experience for them, so much so that it is high on their list of of topics of conversation in the playground.
It has helped some children improve their general level of confidence and for others it has been a way of venting pent up anger and frustration due to difficulties in their lives away from school.
Your handling of the children is pitched perfectly and I hope you will continue to support Henwick children in this exciting sport."

With thanks,

Lesley Coulbault - Henwick School

"We were looking for new and exciting extra-curricular clubs that would challenge our children mentally and physically. We introduced Taekwondo which quickly became a popular choice. David Carmichael is highly professional, but also very experienced in working with children. Our pupils have responded to this in a positive way and are learning new skills.
As Extended Schools Co-ordinator I am pleased to be able to offer this enjoyable experience to the pupils at Cherry Orchard and believe this will lead to many more children getting involved in after school clubs.
Thank you"
